The yellow perch situation disturbs the Abenaki

perchaudeThe yellow perch (m8m8lamagaws) situation in Lake Saint-Pierre is disturbing. The Nation’s fishing community recognizes that the population is decreasing, they are smaller in size and their habitat is rapidly deteriorating. This species is very important to the Nation’s people who have been harvesting them since time immemorial. Recently, the Abenakis of Odanak and Wôlinak Councils passed a resolution to support any action to preserve the yellow perch population and its habitats along Lake Saint-Pierre. The Odanak and Wôlinak Environment and Land Office and the Ndakinna Office (GCNWA) recommend you learn more about the issue through the following link: https://gcnwa.com/en/yellowperch/.
