The name “W8banaki” is steeped in meaning and history. It means “people of the rising sun” in the Abenaki language, honoring our roots and cultural identity. For those curious, the “8” symbol is a specific sound between “an” and “on”, frequently found in the Aln8ba8dawaw8gan (Abenaki) language. This touch represents a subtle addition that allows us to preserve our linguistic origins while setting us apart.
Our commitment to our mission remains unchanged, and our organization will continue to work with dedication and passion to support and promote the W8banaki Nation.
