ROLES OF OUR TEAM
DENYS BERNARD
GENERAL MANAGER
Always on the lookout for business opportunities, Denys sees to the development and growth of the organization. His vision allows W8banaki to effectively serve our communities according to our mission, but also to export our expertise to many Indigenous communities and private organizations.
In addition, Denys plays, among other things, a representative role for the Nation. He supervises, manages and administrates the various funding programs, services and projects underway for W8banaki. He is also responsible for supervising staff and ensuring that institutional values and established performance requirements are met.
NIKITA ZEWSKI
ASSISTANT GENERAL MANAGER AND COMMUNICATIONS
Whether it is through graphic communication, communication plans, public relations or new information technologies, Nikita is in charge of controlling the different information that circulates and of taking care of the image of the two communities. Furthermore, she is in charge of the liaison between the executive management and the various departments. Nikita works closely with the Executive Director by participating in the elaboration of the business development strategy and in the coordination of administrative activities, human resources and operations.
MÉLANIE DALLAIRE
DIRECTOR OF ACCOUNTING
Reporting to the Executive Director, Mélanie is responsible for directing, coordinating and controlling accounting activities. In addition, she is responsible for conducting financial analysis for ongoing projects and for providing the information needed for making informed decisions. She is also responsible for introducing the necessary changes to ensure the continuous improvement of processes and the efficient use of resources.

Diane is in charge of everything related to the payroll and the accounts payable. She also oversees the Home Care Services for both communities.
JULIE CASAUBON, CPA
ACCOUNTANT
Reporting to the Director of Accounting, Julie is responsible for the sound management of financial resources. Whether it is through the follow-up of financing, project progress monitoring, invoicing and cash flow planning, Julie ensures coordination between the field and financial aspects. In other words, she carries out her duties in such a way as to pursue one of the Nation's missions, which is to offer high-level services to the communities.
MATHIEU BLANCHETTE
HUMAN RESOURCES CONSULTANT
Mathieu, who is a member of the CHRP order, has a great knowledge of the First Nations context. His main tasks within W8banaki are to provide support to the management department in order to ensure the optimal development of resources and work teams as well as to actively contribute to various projects.
JOANIE RANCOURT
COMMUNICATIONS CONSULTANT
Joanie provides communications services to the communities of Odanak and Wôlinak, and the various departments of the W8banaki organization. Whether through graphic communications, communications plans, public relations or new information technology. She monitors the various information circulating, makes sure the image of both communities is upheld and lends support to various projects.
MAXIME LYONNAIS
NETWORK ADMINISTRATOR
Reporting to the Director of Technology, Maxime is responsible for the implementation, configuration, and maintenance of IT infrastructures, as well as access management and data security. He ensures the proper functioning of the computer systems for users and resolves any technical problems that may arise.
MARC-ANTOINE DUCHESNE
STRATEGIC ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT ADVISOR
Acting as project manager for the development of wind energy on the Ndakina, the Abenaki ancestral territory, Marc-Antoine ensures a constant representation of the Nation in this project. In addition, his studies in Finance at HEC Montreal as well as his experience in business development are also put to good use for the communities of Odanak and Wôlinak in his role as economic agent.

SOCIO-ECONOMIC ASSISTANCE OFFICER
With a B.A. in Human Relations and a certificate in Coaching, Helen has distinctive skills that are useful in her role as a Socio-Economic Assistance Officer. Having worked for several years with various communities in Quebec, Helen is the ideal person to provide personalized income assistance services and follow-up to the residents of the Algonquin community of Barriere Lake.

ADMINISTRATIVE ASSISTANT
In addition to being an administrative assistant, Émilie also manages the hunting, fishing and trapping file by establishing schedules, selling permits and replying to various questions from fishermen and hunters, as well as registering game.

DIRECTOR - ENGINEERING
Louis is in charge of the engineering department within W8banaki's technical services. He manages the department's services, mandates and personnel while ensuring the quality of services provided to clients and partners. Louis also holds the position of project manager and developer on various engineering projects involving civil engineering, municipal engineering, and road engineering.

DIRECTOR - HOUSING & EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT
Maxime oversees the Housing and Emergency Measures (EMAP) departments within the Technical Services Department. He manages the services, mandates, and personnel of these two departments, while ensuring the quality of services provided to clients and partners. Maxime works in collaboration with various communities, mainly for construction, inspection, building evaluation and asset management projects. With his team, he ensures that the various needs of the communities in terms of emergency measures are met. In addition, Maxime regularly works on the development of various projects in collaboration with governmental levels.

ASSISTANT DIRECTOR - HOUSING AND EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT
Holding a Master of Business Administration (MBA), Laura assists the Director of Housing and Emergency Management (EMAP) with the human and financial resource management of these two departments, while proactively contributing to the administration of various projects. She provides support for the execution of different mandates by planning the department's financial needs and assisting coordinators in carrying out their tasks, particularly in quality control of deliverables.

COORDINATOR - HOUSING
As a graduate of Collège F.X. Garneau in housing management techniques for First Nations, Jean coordinates the housing department at W8banaki. He also holds the position of Itinerant Housing Trainer (IHT). Jean has extensive experience in project management, estimating and teaching building techniques. Thanks to his wide range of skills, he has accumulated nearly 25 years of continuous specialized experience.
PASCAL LUPIEN
EMAP COORDINATOR
With over 20 years of experience in communications and marketing and a strong passion for project development, Pascal works on creating various plans and tools to promote EMAP’s services to communities through branding and digital platforms. As a coordinator, he is responsible for fulfilling the mission of the Emergency Measures Program, focusing on prevention, preparedness, response, and recovery in support of communities affected by disasters. He leads a team of emergency management specialists, liaison officers, and agents dedicated to daily disaster prevention through training programs designed to prepare communities to respond to emergencies and mitigate their impact, as well as emergency response during deployments.

Having graduated from the University of Sherbrooke in Civil Engineering in December 2016, Benoit joined the W8banaki team shortly after graduation. He is responsible for design standards and the application of engineering calculations necessary for road development and repair projects. Benoit also possesses sound technical drawing skills.

Kim oversees the overall management of the Housing Department's projects in collaboration with the department's leadership, guiding project managers to optimize processes and ensure excellence in deliverables. She monitors key milestones and addresses challenges encountered during the project lifecycle. Her expertise in management enables her to handle multiple files simultaneously while providing daily support to the team in their endeavors.
DANY BEAUDOIN
PROJECT LEADER - TRPA
Dany dedicates most of his time to the specific mandate entrusted to W8banaki by the Trois-Rivières Port Authority and the resulting team management. A structural and civil engineering technician by training, Dany oversees project management, as well as the design and execution of plans and specifications in the fields of structural and foundation work. With over 20 years of experience in engineering, architecture, and construction, Dany has led numerous projects involving design, drafting, and construction across various industrial sites.
DAMIEN LAVIGNE
EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT SPECIALIST
Graduated in Prehospital Emergency Care in 2015, Damien has worked in the field of medical emergencies for seven years as a paramedic. As an Emergency Management Officer, these years of experience will be a great asset in his mandate to support the various First Nations communities in their need for emergency management.

Karol-Ann graduated from the École de technologie supérieure (ÉTS) in August 2020. She completed a bachelor's degree in construction engineering during which she accumulated knowledge in structural and municipal engineering during her internships. These experiences allowed her to develop her project management skills, which will be greatly useful in her role as a construction project manager in the technical services department.

Francis has a degree in mechanical engineering from the Université de Sherbrooke. His versatility and dedication allow him to accomplish a wide range of mandates as a project manager in both the engineering and housing departments. His expertise will also be used to help the team in building inspections.

Antony graduated from the Université de Sherbrooke in Civil Engineering in December 2021. He also completed a DEC in civil engineering at the Cégep de Trois-Rivières in 2017. During his academic training, he was able to gain technical experience within several municipal organizations, a contractor as well as W8banaki. His previous experience is relevant to the design calculations related to the municipal engineering field as well as to the management of projects of any nature.
CYRILLE CANTIN
CIVIL ENGINEERING TECHNICIAN
Cyrille Cantin graduated in Civil engineering from Cégep de Trois-Rivières in May 2014. After his studies, he moved into the field of building structure, where he was able to deepen his knowledge of the related standards. His great versatility later led him to work in the field of mechanical engineering. Thanks to this experience, Cyrille was able to perfect her mastery of computer-aided drawing and project management. In March 2019, he joined the W8banaki team where he acquired a good knowledge of road network, construction and surveying standards as well as site supervision.
ALEXANDRE LAROUCHE
CIVIL ENGINEERING TECHNICIAN
Alexandre graduated from the CEGEP of Trois-Rivières in May 2017. During his studies, he was hired by the Ministère des Transports as a construction supervisor. Through his work, he acquired various experience such as contract management and work inspection. In April 2018, he joined the W8banaki team. Alexandre possesses good knowledge of road network standards, surveying and site supervision.

Keven Martel graduated from the Cégep de Trois-Rivières in 2017. Having worked in a material quality control firm for 5 years, Keven has acquired a wealth of knowledge that allows him to develop various projects. Moreover, throughout his professional career, he had the chance to contribute both closely and remotely to many designs located in some of Quebec's indigenous communities.

Having graduated from Cégep de Trois-Rivières in 2023, Érika is now putting her energy to good use in our organization, providing site supervision and designing various civil engineering plans.

PROJECT LEADER - ODANAK
Geneviève is responsible for construction projects undertaken within the Abenaki community of Odanak. She assists the Odanak Abenaki Council in defining needs and managing projects. Holding a diploma in Architectural Technology (DEC) since 2008, Geneviève has been working at W8banaki since 2009. As an architectural technologist, she is also in charge of designing, producing, and finalizing construction plans for various projects. In addition to actively participating in the management of ongoing projects, Geneviève is also responsible for managing CMHC grant programs.

Marilyne graduated from the CEGEP of Trois-Rivières in May 2018 in Architecture Technology. She also completed a civil engineering degree from the same educational institution in 2014. She joined the W8banaki team during her studies, contributing to the drafting tasks of different projects, residential building design and inspections. Marilyne possesses a thorough knowledge of building standards.

Sébastien is responsible for health and safety prevention both within our organization and in collaboration with our various partners. With 15 years of experience as a trainer, manager, and consultant in occupational health and safety in petrochemical plants, industrial construction, and all types of establishments, he supports and assists communities with their various OHS needs.

Alexandre supports the progress of the various archaeological research projects carried out mainly on the Ndakina.

HISTORIAN
As part of his duties, Jean-Nicolas handles the coordination of the W8banaki Nation's specific land claim files. He also oversees the integration of historical knowledge into the various projects of the Ndakina Office. To this end, he conducts archival and literature reviews on various historical and archaeological subjects, and participates in the drafting of articles, reports and various policies.

Alexandre has extensive experience in the First Nations field and acts as strategic advisor for W8banaki. He is involved in providing legal support mainly in projects dealing with the environment and indigenous rights. In addition, Alexandre develops consultation and agreement negotiation strategies for our organization.

He also organizes a variety of community education and awareness-raising activities on land stewardship.

CONSULTATION PROJECT MANAGER
Within the framework of the territorial consultations sent to the W8banaki Nation and in close collaboration with the territorial consultation coordinator, Mickaël supports the drafting of the Nation's responses. The versatility and sensitivity to the issues related to the natural resources present on the territory are at the heart of his mandate. In this sense, he actively participates in the entire research process aimed at determining the environmental and social impacts of projects that affect the Ndakina and its users in any way.

ARCHAEOLOGIST
In immediate collaboration with the archaeologist, Roxane supports the progress of the various archaeological research projects carried out mainly on the Ndakina. Roxane specializes in zooarchaeology.

Louis-Vincent is an archaeologist with a Ph.D. in anthropology from the University of Toronto, specializing in zooarchaeology and w8banaki archaeology of the Contact and Ancient periods. Among his various mandates, Louis-Vincent supports the progress of various archaeological research projects on the Ndakina.

Isaak holds the position of territory guardian. He is responsible for monitoring and protecting the territory of cultural and ecological value to the Abenaki community in order to ensure that habitats and traditional food resources are respected. In addition, he organizes various community awareness and education activities on territorial stewardship actions.

With her experience as a criminologist, Stéphanie brings her expertise to coordinate the N8wkika department. Her dynamism, technical knowledge and efficiency are important assets in managing the department. Among other responsibilities, she oversees the development and management of the entire service offering and coordinates the N8wkika program team.

Using her analytical and planning skills, Pier-Ann is responsible for N8wkika's administrative and financial management as well as implementing the department's strategic planning.
Pier-Ann is also mobilized to coordinate relations with our partners. Her energy and years of experience in management and as a specialized educator are important assets for the organization.

COMMUNITY SERVICES COORDINATOR
Laure is responsible for training, service development and the DYP agreement and must ensure that services meet the needs of families in the community. She ensures consistency in front-line services. She also works with partners to ensure that consultation develops. Laure links clinical needs, community needs and the services that must be associated with them. She has a decision-making role in confirming the offer of services. She is also a youth protection respondent.

INTERVENTION AND PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT CONSULTANT
Zoé participates in the development and follow-up of programs and intervention activities of the Social Services Department. As part of her mandate, she establishes priorities and manages specific situations. She also contributes to the evaluation and allocation process of service requests.
VALÉRIE LAFORCE
SCHOOL PROJECTS COORDINATOR
She initiates, manages and supervises Niona projects that are developed in collaboration with the educational community. Her mandate is carried out in particular through her role as head of the Table en éducation pour les jeunes Abénakis (Education Table for Young Abenakis), which brings together partners working in various educational environments. It acts as a reference-liaison between the educational and Abenaki communities.

PROJECT COORDINATOR WITH PARTNERS
He initiates, manages and supervises Niona projects that are developed in conjunction with partners outside the educational community. His role also includes sharing his specific expertise in cultural matters, particularly in terms of language, history, territory and traditions.

With a CEA in administrative work with First Nations combined with her extensive knowledge of the Abenaki community, Jenny is able to support the management and the members of the social services team on the administrative level.

CULTURAL ANIMATOR
Of Abenaki origin, Sonia takes her roots, cultural values and concern for the well-being and development of young Abenaki people to heart. As a cultural facilitator, she works with children, teenagers and families in the context of intervention, community activities and in schools. Marc-Olivier shares his expertise in cultural matters so that the projects developed by N8wkika are in line with the traditions of the Nation. He also acts as a support for the different activities, more particularly for the projects concerning the 11-17 years old. Marc-Olivier also participates in the elaboration of different cultural trainings.

Karine is a certified social worker who works with the communities of Odanak and Wôlinak, addressing individual, family and group needs. She develops and supports community actions for youth and families. In addition, she offers individual and family follow-up services, providing meaningful help, quality listening and support to members of the Abenaki communities.
RAPHAËLLE O'BOMSAWIN
SOCIAL WORKER
Raphaëlle meets the needs of individuals, families and groups from the communities of Odanak and Wôlinak to enable them to understand and solve their behavioural and social issues. She works with individuals with bio-psycho-social difficulties, provides individual follow-ups and participates in prevention activities.

Chloé, as a social worker, contributes to the implementation of the Niona project. With a constant presence during the cultural workshops, she ensures the smooth running of the project and intervenes with teenagers from the communities of Wôlinak and Odanak. In addition, Chloé offers individual follow-up services by providing significant assistance, quality listening and support to members of the Abenaki communities.

As an Abenaki from W8linak, Karine is the community organizer for the communities of W8linak and Odanak. She supports and accompanies the program team in the planning and organization of community activities and projects. Karine also ensures that prevention objectives are integrated into each of the actions.

Gabriel has a strong cultural and community approach that is reflected in his daily role as a community facilitator. He ensures that Abenaki culture is integrated into all youth activities and supports his colleagues working with a clientele aged 6 to 17.

As an Abenaki from Odanak, Caroline is the community animator for Odanak and W8linak. She is involved in planning and organizing activities for 0-17 year-olds, as well as for families.

Geneviève Treyvaud, a dedicated archaeologist, passed away on January 8, 2024, leaving behind a precious legacy and a respectful practice of First Nations archaeology after over 10 years of service for W8banaki's Ndakina Office. Her passion, mentorship, and commitment deeply impacted her colleagues and the community.
